STORY: The New Pet

Our school friends decide they would like a new classroom pet – inspired by their success with Red Admiral caterpillars. This is the first story I wrote which involved children, with a grown up, using a computer to help, but it seemed appropriate for this story.

We also have two songs about Roly Polies – wood lice. The first is an easy counting song – I encourage you to count on your fingers as we go from one to ten wood lice. The second song has a short section which is repeated several times in the song. I isolate this section, giving children a chance to practice it, so they are prepared to sing along in the song.
